Refridgerator and Freezer

DIY tips
  • If your refrigerator is always running, it can be cause by excessive dust built-up, or temperature set too low. Check the temperature by placing a thermometer inside of a glass of water placed on the middle shelf. Let it sit for at least 8 hours and adjust the temperature setting so it falls within the range of 37-40 degrees Fahrenheit (2.8 and 4.4 degrees Celsius). If that doesn’t fix the problem, you can try cleaning the condenser coils. First cut the power supply to the fridge. Then locate the condenser coils (either on the back or on the bottom of the unit). Detach it either by popping it off the fridge or by unscrewing it. Use a vacuum, brush or wipe cloth to remove as much dust and debris as you can.
  • If your fridge is leaking water, it’s probably either a blocked defrost drain or a clogged frozen water supply.
  • Ice built-up in freezer

Washer and Dryer

DIY tips
  • Always check power first: faulty outlet, tripped circuit breaker, or broken mechanical timers can all lead to the unit not turning on.
  • Motor in the appliance might have overheated. Turn the unit off, let it rest and cool down completely before restarting.
  • If your dryer seems ineffective (clothes are not drying properly), avoid putting too many clothes in the dryer at once.
  • If washer is not draining properly, there might be kinks in the hose, or it might be time to replace your lint filter. Also make sure the hose is sitting above water level in the tub.

  • Motor is running but the drum is not spinning: probably a loose or broken belt.
  • The door to the unit isn’t latching or closing properly, which can stop the unit from running.
  • Washer tub leaks because of a bad seal. Water pump might have gone bad.
  • Dryer isn’t heating up because a heating element, ignitor or thermal fuse might be malfunctioning.
